I am heading to the Goodguys show in Columbus and will come back with a Mustang II front end for my 49 chevy 1/2 ton. I want tubular A arms coil springs and 2" drop spindles. I'm not going with the power rack. I want to try without and I fiqure I can always add it. I would appreciate some input from you stovebolters on which brand or any suggestions. I looked at TCI Fatman and Heidts and they all look the same to me. TCI seem to be the cheapest as far as money.
I can get a TCI for $1500 off of E-bay and I found a local guy who will install it for $350.
I have to take the front clip off. Since I don't have a welder or torch I will most probaly let him do it. He does it for a living and is good.

Thank You.

I used a fatman crossmember on my 34 chevy coupe a few years back and I was very pleased with the fit and finish. It rides great and I've never had any problems with the setup. I have the manual rack and the 11 inch GM brakes. It steers and stops great.

Wish I had the time to go to Columbus.A lot of my friends are going. There are a lot of companies making M2 frontends for the older trucks.I settled on the TCI for my 55 2nd series.Chevy.I also gor the power rack and pinion steering. It wasnt the cheapest but it had tubular A arms, etc. To get the ride height I wanted I cut one coil off of the springs. It is low,but not too low.Had the frontend professionally alligned and it handles just great.I would reccomend you go for the power R&P steering. It doesnt cost that much more, and really makes your truck handle nice.

A few guys told me that the power R & P steering can make your truck handle like your on ice. They told me is steers to easy. They suggested not to go that way. I fiqure I can always add it later if needed

I just got my first project truck a 54 5 window 3100. I would like to do the Mustang II front end and forgive me for asking a stupid question that has probibly already been discussed somewere else but. What year of Mustang should I be looking for and what parts should I be bringing home to do it right? Thanks in advance.

NONE mustangII is a term that we used to use the stock mustanII fronend. Now forget it.It would be like using a corvair or pacer. Buy a mustang II kit and install it in 4 days and be done with it. I had the original mustang II under my 47 and changed it over to a progressive. World of diff and it does not use any part of a mustang II. Just a term nowadys. Foget the original.

So your saying that you used to have the old original mustang II under your truck and you didn't like it? Can you recomend a place to get the complete kit that won't break me? I have a guy that was going to sell me the front end from an old stye for $175 but maybe thats just a waste of money?

Thanks again.
