...Were the Chevy AD big bolts made larger then 2 ton? I do not see anything in the gallery larger then 2 ton (although I could be missing something), but have seen in the firetruck thread below that the sellers title says 3 ton, an advertisement I saw on Mongos website (? I think that's where I saw it) said something along the lines of trucks larger then 2 ton, and when talking with my uncle, he claims my grandfathers truck is a 6 ton, although it appears the same as a 2 ton? (I have no access to the vin to confirm that, as lumber is piled in front of the drivers door). Can someone help a younger 'bolter out to set the record straight?

No 'bolt yet, but if you'd like to help me out with that, send me a message! Or check out my wanted add in the swap meet.

Biggest factory Chevrolet AD truck was the 2-ton 5000 and 6000 series trucks.

GMC trucks were available much bigger.

Hy morton, as far as I know, up to the 55A series, there are no stock Chevrolets larger than 2 ton rating, there were some aftermarket conversions done by companies like Thornton to convert the single axle trucks to tandems, thereby raising their capacity. We in Canada are lucky, we had Chevrolets and Chevrolet Maple Leafs. Maple Leafs looked like Chevrolets, but were 2 1/2 ton and 3 ton rating, the 2 1/2 tons were Chevrolet powered, and the 3 tons were GMC powered [basically a GMC with Chevrolet sheet metal]. Hope that helps

A '64 C80, would be a 3 ton. 1956 was the first year, of the 2 1/2 ton, & 3 ton Chevrolet Heavy Duty Trucks.

I think you'll find on some states titles the 3 ton was what the vehicle was taxed for not its capacity. I've seen lots of 1 tons for sale listed as 3 tons.
