Does anyone sell a frame mount kit? Did you use a v8 bell housing with mounting pads,(55 chevy type) or the 292 housing, and make your own rear trans X member? Any clutch linkage problems? Will the radiator stay in the stock location? Any help, or experience would be great. Thank you, JD

Langdon's Stovebolt Engine Company will sell you a mount kit, some say yes and some say no to the radiator question, don't know about the bellhousing, but I'm going to use the tranny that came with the 292, and everyone tells me I will have to redo my clutch linakge.

I have a 350 w/ a 350 turbo hydro and a Blazer rearend in my '52 - 5 window 1/2 ton pickup. The engine and rear transmission mounts were bought from Chevy Duty and are 'bolt ins'.
The radiator stayed in the original position but I added a transmission cooling 'hairpin' and an extra row of cores for extra cooling because of the 350, California climet, and future A/C.
The only PITA (Pain In The A--) part of the conversion was re-locating the steering box from the inside of the frame to the outside to clear the exhaust manifold.

They are welded in and work fine (but I had to modify them to work on my 59 - 1 ton frame is bigger). You don't move the radiator, but you might have to play with fan spacers, and you use the 292 bell housing with your old transmission - it bolts right up. Sometimes you need a water pump with a shorter shaft on it, but I didn't need it. You might have to customize a radiator shroud to work with the fan. | | |
