I'm installing a newer rearend under my truck and wanted to convert from the lever shocks to the tube shocks on my '49 3/4 ton and would like to see how the factory tube shocks were mounted, or even home made mounts. If anyone has some pics that would be great! Thanks for the help!

I do not have any pics as I went to tube shocks on my 37,I do have the rear portion of the kit from Jim Carters for the 49 on back that I am not using. I think the shocks mount on the outside of the frame rail so you will have to use the same width of rear end or that kit wont work,I put a narrower rear end in my 37 and could not use the rear part of the kit. As Jeff mentions Jim Carter sells a complete conversion kit or individual pc's.

Here's the best pic I have of the upper shock mount. It's got 4 rivits holding it to the frame.

The bottom mount is secured with the U bolts. Good luck.

I didn't think there was even enough room to mount them outside the frame on the rear. I've got the front mounts installed but I just never saw how the rear was mounted. I like the crossmember version Chev4t6, is your truck stock height or lowered? I plan to do an axle flip and c-notch so I'm thinking the crossmember setup would be the best choice for clearance reasons. Thanks for the help guys! Any more pics are great!
