Supposedly a 50 to 52 Rochester B with auto choke for 235 Powerglide, original in box from an estate dealer who doesn't normally do car stuff. Guy bought it still sealed in box but wanted a manual choke so he has put it back up for auction. Anybody know what would be a fair price for a NOS carb? Caveat Emptor!
The first Powerglide 235 wasn't till '53!
The '50-'52 Powerslide('scuse me!) were 216s w/hydraulic lifters, and more importantly, had the smaller throttle body that does NOT fit a 235 manifold and has smaller jets too.
The price sounds high, and I'd be sure that it'll fit your manifold first!
I learned about the difference between 216 & 235 Rochesters from a $5 flea-market carb- squeaky clean, but too small for my '54!
(I did hang on to it though, and 15 years later owned a '50 Chevy Fleetline with a 216, and finally used the carb on that!)

The 216 was never used with an automatic or hydraulic lifters, Chevy borrowed its big truck 235 (in use since 1941) and put in bigger valves and hydraulic lifters for use with its new automatic in 1950.
Yes, the Rochester model B was used on the later 216's with a smaller bolt pattern, 2-3/4" wide, I think, and about 3" on the 235 and 261. While the manifold pattern did change, the pattern between the bowl and throttle body didn't, so swapping throttle bodies around is possible, I have done this before with no apparent ill effects, but I would recommend you use the proper parts together as intended. The bore diameters are all different between the 216, 235 and 261. | | |
