Ok I need to pick ya'll's brains. As we all know the Chevy pick-up 49-54 used the dreaded torque tube. I have a 1941 Pontiac with a three on the tree and a open drive shaft. is that the same transmission? could I just steal a tail shaft from a Pontiac? or does anyone have pictures and dimensions of a tail shaft that I could use to machine one?

I think the only way to find out is to take things apart and try it, but I have serious doubts if it would work. An easier way would be to get a transmission and 3rd member from a 55 and later. They had open drive shaft.

Well that would be fun but I am sure my significant other would love me for bringing what she calls junk home. that's why I was wondering if pontiac would work because I have that stuff on hand
