Guy who did the paint job on my truck clipped the wires on the dome light to remove unit for the job. Got a new unit I want to put in place, but have no idea where the wires need to run and plug/splice in. Got a Haynes shop manual that has fairly decent diagrams for everything except the job at hand. Any help/advice appreciated.

The other term on the lamp goes to the light switch & any door jam switches it might have. It grounds when you turn the light switch knob all the way clockwise.

Problem I've got is that my buddy didn't secure the wires leading up to the light unit after clipping them. I figured I would have to splice wires from the new light unit to the clipped wires but there's no wires in the the recesses of where you put the unit. So, I'm trying to figure out where those hot wires run -- how they get up to the light unit. Feeling around the recessed area I can feel a hole at the bottom left passenger side that may be the route for the wiring, but I don't know.
Jim | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 841 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 841 | can you pull the wires out from below the back of the cab. them fish down a cable and tie the wires to it and pull it back up. seems like they go down on the drivers side in mine. i had this happen to me, but shhh don't tell anyone, i was the one who cut them. hr | | | | | Joined: Apr 2008 Posts: 27 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Apr 2008 Posts: 27 | in my case, it's the classic -- never let a friend do serious work. great paint and body work that took a year longer than promised -- because i took a job in n.c. and left truck behind. so, if i'm reading you right, the wires run below the cab then come up behind the driver's side. so, i'll be crawling around underneath the cab to see where these bad boys run. then fish the cable down and tie off the wires -- hopefully, they haven't been cut as well. | | |
