I want to convert from manual to power steering on my '62 c-10 with v/8. Are there stock parts available, and if not, can I use some later model truck parts ? Has anyone done this ? Thanks in advance.

Hi Tim I just put in a power stering unit in my C-10 it is easy to do you have to use a different arm on your stering box etc. If you go to Bill's Hot Rod you can get the brackets to mate the pump to the V-8 or make a set from some 1/4 plate. The frame of the C-10 needs to be modified with plates to mount the new Gearbox. There is a company in Fresno Ca. Early Classic Ent. a place in Montana called Rez Engineering. Both these companys specialize in resto parts. I went with ECE. simply because it was real close to my town. The parts came in a kit which supplied all the Gearbox, Hyd. Pump and all the conversion plates, Pitman Arm etc. The one thing I did was go with a quick ratio gearbox. It just depends on what you want to do as you can round up the parts out of a salvage yard and rebuild them yourself but it will cost you about the same anymore the way the prices are now days unless you have a in with a supplier. Good Luck on your project which ever way you do it and if you need more info just PM. me. Oh and by the way this is all from GM. parts except the brackets.
