I've got the 307 in my '70 running, but it doesn't seem to be firing on the no. 1 cylinder (no timing light flash). I have replaced the rotor, dist cap, sp wires and plugs, but still no spark. Seems to be firing on other cylinders. Any ideas about what might be going on? Very frustrating and hard to time correctly with no fire on no. 1!

How is it known that it is not firing on No. 1? Does the engine run the same with the No. 1 wire disconnected as it does when the wire is connected to the sparkplug? Does the timing light fire when it is connected to another cylinder, such as No. 6, which is 360 degrees after No. 1? Try using a plug and wire (of the appropriate length) that are known to fire ok on another cylinder.

Is your point gap correct. If the gap is to close & the dist cam has a some wear or is bent it can not fire on one cyl. Like Hoyt says you can time it on #6. It is the same.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.
