For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 50 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 50 | I am swapping a 235 for a 216 for the first time in my life and the learning curve is like a wall. I got a block and head '55 to 57 casting numbers matched OK but an incomplete motor. I bought a used rocker arm assembly from some old guy who said it'd work. The rockers have bushings in them and I think those were used on the earlier 216 engines. When I went to bolt down the assembly all the valves are held open- somethin' wrong big time. The pushrods measure correct, 11.25 inches, for 55 to 57. The towers appear to be the right height. The valves are all new and correct for the head. If I have 216 rocker arms would that be causing this problem? | | | | | Joined: Sep 2000 Posts: 114 Member | | Member Joined: Sep 2000 Posts: 114 |

That's what I get for digging around in a guy's backyard for parts. (And they were laying around dog poop too!) I got taken I do believe. Thanks for the ebay lead. | | |
