For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 5 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 5 | hey guys, after a frame-off cleanup, i'm starting to rebuild now, and unfortunately it's been about 3 years since i took it apart (i move slow, i know). so i've got all this linkage and crap, adn i have no idea how it goes together. also, not sure how the master cylinder bolts up. and pictures, diagrams, or links to any of these would be helpful. thanks! | | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 | Buy a reprint of the Factory Assembly Manual. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 428 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 428 | Cletis has it right, the assembly manual is EXTREMELY valuable in both the dissembley and rebuild phases. By your question I have a hunch that you have neither the shop manual or the assembly manual. Buy all the documention you can for your truck. Original printed material is fun, but pricey. Reprints are cheap and contain the same info. Check out Keith Hardy"s project page. He has thousands of hours invested in documentation for free. And if the sprit moves you contribute to the maintainance of the free site. Check the tips page here. Chevrolet offers a restoraation packet that is year specific, and it is free. Also use the search feature there are thousands of pages related to your question. There is a huge amount of information here. And if you ask a pertinant question you will be flooded with info. But asking dumba$$ questions will get you nowhere fast. Did you take pictures of the disassembly? did you do a vocal account of what you dod when you did it? If you didn't it will be a lot harder putting your truck back together even with the docs I mentioned and the help of the people here on the the stovebolt page. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 5 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 5 | thanks cletis, that's what i'm lookin for. i figured there had to be some sort of documentation out there, but google wasn't showin me, and i searched here and the hamb, but maybe i didn't type in the right keywords.
no, i didn't take pictures of the dissassembly. if i had, i probably wouldn't be asking for yours. i took it apart when i was 17 years old, and only had a week to get the truck down to the frame (and then mom and dad were returning from vacation, so i had to vacate the garage. next time, i certainly will document my dissassembly better, but i had to do it wrong once to figure out how to do it right, right? i'll be sure to pm you, jimmie, before i ask my next question to make sure it's pertinant. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 2,644 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 2,644 | Check out Keith Hardy"s project page. Jumping into something too quickly is part of the learning experience. There is a lot of knowledge here and lots of help, even for "dumb" questions since the only really dumb question is the one that isn't asked.
