Hi, My screen name is Mr48Chev That is due in no small part to my having owned a 1948 Chevrolet Half ton pickup since 1973.
About myself, I am 61 years old at the moment and a lifetime car nut.
I grew up with a dad who liked cars and got involved in my projects when he could.
My background is that of a trained auto mechanic who specialized in front suspension and wheel alignment then taught High School vocational auto mechanics for thirteen years. I have also worked in auto parts and the ag and industrial parts area.
I tend to favor modified trucks and the more traditional rods and customs.

The truck was first built to go to the Street Rod Nationals in Tulsa Ok in 1973. A three month thrash that took a 75.00 running beater to a presentable 1973 style stock bodied painted and upholstered truck. The trip up wasn't without all the trials and tribulations of taking off in a freshly assembled modified vehicle but We had fun and the trip back (to Waco Tx at the time) was with out incident, just cruise along with the little Nova 6 cyl humming away.
Over the years it has had several engines, many transmissions and something like five different rear axles.
It is chopped four inches, has suicide doors and 120 louvers in the hood. The engine for the past 19 years has been a Chev 250 six that is now extremely tired.
Currently I am starting a complete frame up rebuild that will include a new independent front suspension, four wheel disk brakes, fresh 292 engine and a complete chassis and body clean up and hopefully shiny paint for the first time in 20+ years.

Just registered, as I found stove bolt accidently. What a great resource, thank you for posting the site. I have a 1960 Chevy Apache C-10 for 15 years. It is my pride and joy. Many times I have had problems and nowhere to turn. My truck has had a lot of projects completed, and runs great, I always feel like a king driving her. Thanks again !!!!!!

The chassie has a disc brake converscion with a powder booster for it.Power Steering, Fuel tank moved under the bed. The engine is a 350 cu. bored out to 355 cu. with Keith Black pistons, Speed Pro rings, Comp cam, Crank turned to 10-10,True Roller Timing Chain,Roller Rockers special push rods, street Damper, aluminum water pump, Preformer intake, Edelbrock carb., HEI Ignition and 2 1/2 Rams Horn manfolds a head of a GM 400 transmission.
