It looks like my plan to swap the oil pan off a dead 1961 235 and put in on my almost new 1954 235 is not going to work.

Can someone tell me what other year oil pans will fit a 1954 235 truck? I'll be looking for one Monday maybe from Jim Carter or any other ideas....Thanks Jim D.

The chevrolet Master Parts Catalog shows which pans should be used for a 1954. The pans from the 53-54 and 55first (except Corvette six?) full pressured engines are what is needed. I believe that the 40-53 low pressre engine pans will bolt on to the block, but they have the troughs for the scoops, etc.

Thanks Hoyt, I have not looked at the Master Catalog in a while...did't think of it. A lot of good info there.

I'm thinking of getting the old pan repaired at a local welding shop...PO stripped the drain plug and installed an oversized plug, when that did't work he gooped the bottom with some epoxy or JB weld or some other crud that I had to chip out...

anyway the good news is he did change the oil every 1k miles...and the inside looks real good.
He did apolgize for not getting me a new pan but, I thought I had that covered

Thanks Again, Jim D.
