This is on top of the canister coming off the smaller vacumn part. Mine was just dry rotted going no where. | | |

#44553 05/11/2002 5:39 AM | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 581 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 581 | On my '44 ton-and-a-half, the suction line for the booster comes off the manifold (not sure this is stock - seems like it usually comes off a thing under the carb maybe?), and goes to a small, fuel-filter shaped thing on the firewall on driver's side, then from that to the booster canister. Don't really know what that firewall doomaflitchy is - maybe a breather like he says? Don't remember seeing anything like it in Chevs of the 40s or Jim Carter's catalogs.
Not sure this helps. I'll look more closely tomorrow and post.

Big line off the intake manifold goes to a check-valve on firewall, then down to booster using some metal maybe following the frame and x-overs to get to it. There is a small "breather" in cab rear corner or behind end of seat. You can sometimes hear a hiss or something when letting off the brake pedal. OR, some COE's or GMC's have the breather on the firewalls. All these hoses may "rot" so check them. They also have tees to the rear-end if you have a 2spd unit. Most do! Lots of times the metal tubes will rust thru also and cause leaks, especially at clamps holding it to frame.

The main line on mine goes from the carb to the thing on firewall down to the booster, and yes my steel line was shot from resting on the frame.
I have fluid going to all corners, so now getting to the work part. | | |
