They offer an adapter to put a 2 bbl holly on a stovebolt 1 bbl manifold. How does this set up compair to the stock 1 bbl Rocester as far as power and mileage? And is it easy to put on or is it a pain? Thanks!

My friend Wally says that's the way to go, and I reckon I probably will when I get around to building the spare engine.

My experience has been very positive. I run a 261 with Fenton and Offenhauser intake. I had the usual problems; grind the intake to get it to fit with the Fentons. Once that was done getting the linkage between the two Holleys wasn't all that difficult. A few people even emailed me a picture of their set-ups. The only issue was getting the linkage pieces. For the throttle rod between the carbs I use a rod from a typewriter platen assembly (chrome, strong & easy to drill. The threaded rods going to the carb were easy, but finding the joints to attach to the carbs & throttle rod were harder. I finally find them at NAPA, but I had to find them on their websiste and then give the clerk the part number. Also, I do run hot water through the intake. I don't know if it helps, but the engine starts right up and after a short warm-up runs fine even though I don't have the choke(s) operational yet (I live in Minnesota). Gas mileage is what you expect, performance seems good and they look great.

I'm just looking to replace my single 1 barrel with a single 2 barrel on the stock manifold. Just wondered what other's experience is as far as power, mileage, etc. Also, any info on how hard or easy this "swap" is to do. Thanks again.

It did outperform the one. If you go with the 2 bbl Holley-Weber from Stovebolt, which is a progressive setup, your mileage should stay about the same unless you keep your pedal to the metal all the time. Torque will be about the same, too. Tom can give you advice on the linkage. His adapter works, I just don't care that much for it's looks. For my friend's 261 we will machine our own adapters, but that might be a while.
Tom's carbs have two styles of chokes, one electric and one water heat. We got one of each and used the electric.
