Is there supposed to be two carburetor mounting gaskets on a 216, with one between the carb and the insulator and one between the insulator and the intake manifold? When I took the carb off there wasn't one between the insulator and the manifold, but atg the parts store a guy said his system showed two required.

D Winn,

This is one of those topics folks disagree on. Some will run one gasket while others run two. I'm not sure what the book says...maybe the fellow at the parts store is correct.

The crux of the matter is, 'no leaks allowed'. However many you run, be sure the notch in the insulator (if it has one) and the little notch in the gasket are positioned under the small port in the carburetor base.

Atomarc, Thanks for the info. I'll probably go with two to be safe. Also thanks for the info on positioning the gasket.
