where do you guys got your speakers mounted ? i dont want mine to be visible. i was thinking 2 either under the seat or at each end in back of the seat between the gas tank and door sides. they would be hiding that way.
any of you guys running only 2 rear speakers ? if so, how does it sound with only 2 speakers ? i would like to have 2 more speakers in the front, but dont want them mounted in the door panel. and i aint got much room under the dash.
just curious of your radio and speakers install. any pics ?
thanks guys.

Leonard, This question might be better asked in the radio related section but here are my thoughts. I would never hack up a good dash so here is an alternative idea to that. There are reproduction radios available now that fit the original radio location perfectly and even look just like the original. They are fitted with AM/FM stereo radios with built in stereo amps and have RCA input jacks so you can run your CD, MP3 player, satellite radio, or what ever into it. You could hide a small portable CD player in the glove box although you might want to consider an MP3 player instead since they are much smaller and easier to place. For speakers, these repro radios have 4 channel amps so you could run 2 speakers in boxes behind the seat and sum the 2 front channels into the single stock speaker box that mounts above the windshield as I seem to remember for a '57. Summming the front channels could be done with 2 small speakers in one box or a dual voice coil single speaker if they make anything like that. http://www.ecklerstrucks.com/product.asp?pf_id=138038&dept_id=1028&cm_mmc=Froogle-_-Audio+-+Stereos+-+AM%2FFM-_-138038-_-X Best of luck, -Ed

thanks much..

I got a real nice rsdio with C/d player for under $100 at Walleys. I got 2 inclosed speakers at J.C. Whitney & put them in the corner of the cab besides the gas tank. Sounds good & the original delete panels are still in place. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. They also have very good customer service. A few years ago I bought one of their USA-5 with 10 cd changer new w/warranty on ebay at a great discount. It has radio, cassette, cd and now even iPod. 2x 35W stereo, front and back. It fits both my 3100 truck and coupe. Used to have it in my truck and then put it in my coupe for the long freeway trips. Got 2x 80W 4" speakers in a speaker box I made behind the stock speaker grill and 2x 130W 6x9 speakers inside speaker cabinets on my back seat. | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 549 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 549 | After using this a couple of years now, I can say it works well. I get a pretty decent sound, you don't see it, it was pretty harmless to the truck, and it's held up nicely so far. Two pieces of 1" X 4" pine (painted black), 2 - 4" pieces of gas line (for protection), a jig saw, a drill, 4 screws, 4 beers, and you're in... Click the pic... I made boxes for under the seat. It took a little tweaking to get a decent sound (not too tinny) acouple $100's for now maybe a small amp later to richen the sound a little. Got one w/ a removeable faceplate kind of a pain but still there. good luck.
