Well I have a 51 chevy 3100, and i am about to buy a complete 74 camaro subframe to graft for cheap, but before i buy it i was just wondering if its to wide, i read on another board that 2nd gen camaros fit fine, i dont wanna do a mustang II, wanna keep it chevy, and i dont want the tires looking wierd in the wells from being wide. I eventually just wanna bag it on all 4's so i want IFS, i know these questions get brought up alot, but what is the best chevy graft i could do, or would the 74 camaro be fine?

I have installed several late 70s and early 80s Monte Carlos. They are narrower than a Camaro and fit the ADs very nice. Novas thru the 70s are a good choice.

But it will fit we have done 5 like this. You need to find a wheel that is a 6" or yuo can use a 7" if you can get a deep offset in the design you like.
The other option is to move the lower ball joint in 3/4" not that hard if you can weld. Take the lower control arm weld the ball joint closed and redrill 3/4 in.
The top is easy to do with spacers. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 637 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 637 | The Camaro subframe works fine, but you will need to take a 2" or 3" section out of the middle and cut the tie rod down a like amount. This works great, another way is to buy Scott (Ventura, Ca.) A arms that are shorter by about 1 to 1 1/2 inches, but they are pretty pricey. When you narrow the subframe it will align better with the early frame.
