On page 85 of LMC it shows a diff. routeing for the brake line but it might show for a longbed instead of shortbed...any good answers...Thanks....Virg | | | | Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 5,152 Cruising in the Passing Lane | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 5,152 | Move the crossover? On a little later trucks that crossover happens at the bellhousing crossmember.
One line from the master goes forward to the left front brake. A second goes to a tee just behind the bellhousing crossmember, where a line forward goes to the right front, and a line back feeds the rear brakes.
If you have one leaking metal tube you probably want to replace all of them to be safe. Once you've made that decision rerouting isn't as difficult to accept...
I'm not sure when the change occured. I have a '50 1-ton with the line running under the radiator and a '54 1-ton with a hydravac where it happens even further back under the cab.
