Hello everyone –

Well I have been working on installing my IFS kit from No Limit Engineering.

I thought I would just check in and let you all see what is happening.

So far everything is going well. A lot of measuring, measuring and more measuring, but things are fitting together pretty well.

I have removed the old front axle, etc. I then modified the frame and fit the cross member, removed the original cross member, and fit the boxing plates.

I also had to cut off the frame flare where the old steering box went and weld in a new piece to flatten it out.

Next up is to finish welding it all in, weld in the A-arm gussets, the front tubular cross member, and then I can start working on the spindles, rack and pinion and sway bar.

A lot of fun, but lots of hours and grinding and fitting.

Anyway, just thought I would share. (I know I was always searching for information and pictures on the install of an IFS kit on a 55 2nd truck.)

Oh, I also installed an aluminum gas tank in the rear frame.

I will get more pics out there when I get another few steps done.

I'll tell ya what I think! I think from what I see it looks well organized and detailed! You're going to have a great ride some day. Way to go Ross.

Looks like you are doing a fine job. I did mine aoutt 5 yrs. ago,and it turned out AOK.I must have measured mine 50 times before I welded it in place,just wanted to make sure things were lined up properly.Biggest mistake most people make is to get in a hurry.Take your time,and do it right and you will have one sweet ride.

Oh Yeah,one more thing. If your gonna use power R&P steering you will want to take out that front crossmember.If not it will be in your way when hooking up the R&P.

The No limits set-up looks like a really well engineered kit.
I love the offset top wishbone mounts.I assume you basically rotate these to set the camber and then lock it in place. It looks like setting up the front geometry will be a breeze! Nice job!

Being my fist attempt at this, it is nice to hear positive comments.

I am using a power rack so I did take out the original cross member. (Now that was a pain!) (Thanks DALE 937)

For the most part, the kit has been relatively close. Instructions are not too bad. It took a lot of "fitting" to get the cross member in correctly.

The boxing plates have been kind of a pain - a lot of grinding to get the to the correct shape.

Overall, I would say the kit has been designed well.

Now I am putting on the rest of the suspension and the sway bar, so I will be back in touch as I get a little further.

1st project. I am glad to hear things are progressing well.I used the TCI kit when I did mine,and it has worked out just great.The two most important things involed are to read and follow the instructions ,and last but not least,measure several times just to make sure the crossmember is in the right place.
