Ok.. all the T-5 info on here seems to be for the AD trucks, not my '62. I already know i have to cut a small amount off the input shaft, make a hybrid clutch (I'm guessing a pressure plate for my truck and a disc for an S-10?) what i need to know, is everything else.. lol... does the driveshaft need to be cut down? do i need to mount a crossmember to support the back of this tranny since it's aluminum? And i seem to remember something about drilling the bellhousing and tapping it for 1/2" bolts?

You are close. Cut the input shaft & the coller that the TO brg. rides on to match the old trans. While you have the coller off take the new clutch disc & slide it on the shaft till it stops. Mark it. Pull the disc off & grind the grooves with a die grinder or Dremel tool till the disc will slide on about 3/8 to 1/2 in. further then originally. Run a half in. drill bit through the mounting holes in the trans. Use 2 allen head bolts 1/2 x 1 1/2 coarse thread for the upper mounting bolts. get bolts & nuts for the lower. Get a driveshaft yoke from the S-10 or practically any 68 up GM & have the drive shaft shortened to fit using the later model yoke. Some guys run them without a crossmember under them but I certainly wouldn,t do it with that long aluminum case.

I am curious where the shifter hits compared to the standard 4 speed. It seems to me the shifter would be farther back and obviously over to the right. Will it fit with the standard bench seat?
Thanks

You will also need the clutch disc from an 88 Astro van with a 4.3 and 5-speed. Or build a hybrid using the camaro case and S-10 tail.

Scott,
Where will the shifter hit on the T-5 compared to the 4 speed floor shifter. Will it clear the bench seat and I assume it will be centered rather than on the side of the hump.
Thanks!

Hey,
Anybody got a couple of answers for fit of the T5 in a '60-62 C10? Low hump or High hump and will it fit with bench seat? Thanks for your help!

Ok...I'll need some imput from guys who have tried this swap. I got a T-5 from a 1986 V-6 camero.
1st. 4.03
2nd. 2.37
3rd. 1.49
4th. 1.00
5th. 0.76
I have a have a nova rearend with a 3.08 final drive.

With my 29 inch tires @ 70 mph the old 235 will be spinning @ 1900 RPM in 5th. gear.

At 55 MPH in 5th. gear the motor will be turning at 1500 RPM.

Would this be a good swap into the old truck as far running gears go?
also would I have to do the astro van clutch deal with this as discribed in other part of this site?
I thank you. Joe
