Well, let me tell you about my fathers 1957 Chevy truck. This truck is part of the family. It has been with the family since its birth. Dad got it new. It was his county truck in Mendocino County, California. Dad used the truck for everything. He bought it after it was retired from the county. He used it for going to work and around the vineyard. We had 50 acres fo grapes. He kept it all stock. Still has the orginal engine. I learned to drive this when I was six years old. Dad would have me sit on his lap and I got to handle the wheel. As I got older, I was allowed to shift. When I was tall enough I got to take over. Dad passed away April 8th, 2007. He always said he wanted to be buried in the Chevy. But, he gave it to me. I feel like I am just taking care of it for him. I do not feel like it is mine. I live in San Francisco, Ca. The truck is tucked away in my garage. Wife is not to happy of course. What is amazing is the truck has been outside all its life. There is hardly any rust. The bed is gone and there is rust in the front panels. Other than that its not too bad. I plan to restore it back to 100% stock. I will post some photos once I figure out how to do it. My fathers name was Rod. His nick name was "UncleRod." 1957 Chevy 1/2-Ton TruckIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pixThe coldest winter I ever saw was a summer I spent in San Francisco M.
