Where do I get Classic ins. for my 66 C-60. I've tried JC taylor and American Classic and they wont insure big trucks. My current ins company will but they want a arm and a leg for the little I'll be driving it.

I got mine insured through American Collector's ins. for about $41 a year.

Thats one I tried but they wont insure that big of a truck. What do you have?

I have my fire truck insured with Hagerty very reasonably (I think it added $18/yr to my existing policy). Several other folks are insuring their 2-tons with Hagerty as well. You can find a link for them on our Links Page.

My 54/55 GMC 2-ton (350) GMC COE is insured through Hagerty - no hassle. However, it has to be kept in locked storage when not being driven.

I have a 2 ton grain truck insured with J C Taylor. They rejected it at first but when I proved to them that I am in the for hire trucking business and a 1953 model would be impractical, they took it and added to the rest of my toys. It takes some work by the agent to convince an underwriter.

I had a horrible time finding insurance that didn't cost a load as well. I couldn't get collectors insurance due to the fact I actualy wanted to haul something besides a passenger in it tho. I endedup going with Farmers insurance, they covered me with full commercial insurance for less than half of what most companies quoted me, IF they'd even cover it at all.

I had my firetruck insured with American Collector Ins. but had to make a claim within 60 days of insuring with them so they canceled me. The truck was in a locked storage and had not been moved since insuring with them. A huge tree fell across the building and did a lot of damage. It is in a shop being fixed and when it is presentable I will have to find other insurance before driving it home or have it shipped.

I've had good luck with Hagerty too.

I have a State Farm policy on the 1951 firetruck.

I was turned down by both Hagerty & American Collector's for my '47 Grain Truck, even though I have other cars with both. I had it added on to my State Farm policy for my regualr vehicles for about $135 per year. When I had Esurance they took it with no questions for about the same price. Esurance is Geico with a disocunt.

I have my 1989 International 1600 26' flat-bed registered for 22000 lbs. GVW insured with State Farm on a non-commercial use policy. I only use it for my own junk and have "Private" "Not For Hire" on the doors. The International costs me $132.00 every 6 months for insurance, but that is for liability only. I also have an old E-350 dually insured with Hagarty and it cost's me $125.00 a year with $10K stated value

Just for everybodys info. I got in touch with JC Taylor and the told me to send another picture and they would maybe reconsider,so I did. Now they claim if I had already been insured with another vehicle they would Grandfather me in ,but they are no longer writting policies for large trucks.Am now trying Hagerty.

All of my big toys (16,000 to 28,000 GVWR) are insured historical through Gulfway, they are the Florida company that advertises in the ATHS Wheels of Time, found them easy to deal with and averages out to about $200 per year per truck. Actual cost is based on whatever you state the value at.
