They passed the seat-belt law in Georgia this year for pick-ups. Some people say you don't have to put them in if it didn't come from the factory with them. About two years ago, someone stated this also on the Stovebolt forum, but I don't remember what state they lived in. Anyone kow for sure about Georgia?
Thanks, Truck Tinker

More of a safety issue. Everyone has their own opinion on what it ought to be but that’s not what you want or need. The only real way to tell is to contact your own state DMV and get the skinny straight from the proper authorities. If you do happen to contact your DMV it wouldn’t hurt to report back to the group. At least then we would all know for sure what laws GA & IN really have on the books. Denny Graham Sandwich, IL

If you go ahead and install them, irregardless of year, you will be required to use them. | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 267 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 267 | my understanding is that if not originally equipped then it doesn't count. however, if somebody added them after market and they are still installed then you have use them. same as for the cars

I've wondered that myself. If you don't mind my asking, where in south Indiana do you live? I might be close to you. | | | | Joined: Apr 2008 Posts: 50 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2008 Posts: 50 | Im in Gentryville, about 30 miles East of Evansville. | | | | Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 1,403 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 1,403 | Oh, I'm North a little ways. This is for truck talk. Seat belt laws just barely qualify. Personal chats do not. | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 Master Gabster | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 | Law or no, I'd for sure install them. That is one of the smart upgrades for an old AD.

I thought they were standard but my brother ordered the truck; not me. Could be they were standard on the deluxe cab. | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 2,877 Socket Breaker | Socket Breaker Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 2,877 | The thread linked below has the answer to the seat belt law question in Georgia: Solution to seat-belt laws in Georgia This is accurate as of the 2008 legislative session.
