Hi All,

I would like to know what it's going to take to put a 250ci 6cyl with a 700R4 overdrive transmission into my 1952 1/2 ton Chevy pick up.
Has anyone on this board done this? I cannot seem to find any specific information about this swap. Any pros and cons or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I put the 250 in one of our AD several years ago but I used the 350 Automatic transmission. I made the side mounts for the motor and the transmission mount. I move the radiator forward inside the radiator support for added clearance with the fan. I also converted the truck over to 12V and added a transmission oil cooler in front of the radiator.

Can one of those aftermarket (V-8) engine cross members and transmission mounts work for this engine? How far forward does the radiator need to move? Thanks

I just got through putting one back in my 54. It difficult but can be done. I bought the v-8 crossmember and purchased some 230/250 motor mounts from NAPA, turned them upside down did some grinding and cutting here and there and it worked out fine. The throttle linkage was a major issue. I modified the v-8 thottle linkage from chevy duty for this.

One question though: Why would you want to do this?? I don't believe you will get a noticable performance improvement out of the 250. If you can go find a full pressure 235, an easy drop in. In my case the 250 is all I had and it had just been rebuilt when I purchased the truck. The PO really messed up the installation so I had to re-do it.

As far as the transmission mount, I put the Muncie 22 four speed back in the truck with the Chevy duty transmission mount.

Let me know if you still want the pictures
