That's the first time I've seen this. I have always been told and thought that fourth gear was 1:00 to 1:00 direct drive. Can anyone verify this "new" information? Joe

I went ahead and sent them a question in the contacts and questions section.
Did you see the paragraph about which fluid to use? That discussion may flare up again. 1946 Chevy Half Ton ('56 235, '86 T5, '79 Camaro Z28 rear end, working on the '85 Jaguar XJ6 IFS) 1976 Margay Panther X, MC91B | | | | | Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 1,820 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 1,820 | Yes, D1ck, I saw that comment about the Dextron II Fluid! I did finally get my hands on an 1985 S-10 Owner's Manual and it plainly states in there that Dextron II fluid is to be used in the T-5 transmission, so I'm Ok with that now that I have read it in person. It will be interesting to see what this author has to say to you about his gear ratios. Let us know! Joe

I think it's a typo or wait a minute maybe it's in British units. http://www.mongosgarage.com/tech/t5/T5tag.htmMONGO | | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,554 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,554 | OK,if fourth gear is 1 to 1,what ratio is fifth gear? | | | | | Joined: Jul 2000 Posts: 623 "MONGO" | | "MONGO" Joined: Jul 2000 Posts: 623 | Depends on the transmission, 1-3 and 5th vary depending on what vehicle it came out of. You can look at the spreadsheet on the link I posted above to determine what the ratio's are based on the ID Tag on the trans. So that means in England, the world turns fast than it does here? So LP records that are 33 1/3 here are 36 1/3 (approximately 10%) there? I did not know dat! OK - I got it now!! Joe

Whatever you wrote to him has him movin' fast! He has already changed all of the 5th gear ratios on the page to 1.00:1.
I just noticed that his reverse gear and first gear ratio is backwards on T-5 transmission number 1352-145 like I've got. He has first at 3.78:1 and reverse at 3.76:1. I have first gear at 3.76:1. I guess that part is still English!

The changed the table. 1946 Chevy Half Ton ('56 235, '86 T5, '79 Camaro Z28 rear end, working on the '85 Jaguar XJ6 IFS) 1976 Margay Panther X, MC91B | | | | | Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 19 Apprentice | | Apprentice Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 19 | I have a T5 from a 1985 S10 and it's definitely 1:1. Must be a typo. 5th gear varies. Most of the T5s that went behind a V6 had steeper ratios and work better behind a stovebolt. Many of the 4 cylinders had a 0.86:1, which is hardly worth shifting into. 0.72 and 0.73 are pretty common. Here's a list that might be useful....there are others if you do some searching.
