on a 1950 chevy 3100 is there any difference in a 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive frame its going to be 2 wheel drive when im done

Front suspension is completely different and the track width is wider. The 4x4 S10s use a different offset wheel to compensate for the track width. Also, if you convert to 2wd, you will have to swap 2wd spindles on, as the 4x4 hub assemblied cannot be used without the 1/2 shafts in place. bearing failure will result.
For positives in usig the 4x4 chassis, from what I've been told, using the wider track, it puts the wheels in a better position in the fenderwells when used with std offset wheels, not so sucked in like the 2wd. There's also the torsion bar suspension, which can be adjusted easily for ride hight. To convert the spindles, just use 2wd hubs from a '98 or later S Blazer w/4 wheel disk brakes. That will eliminate the need for the 1/2 shaft, as that bearing is a different design that doesn't require the stub shaft for bearing preload.
