don't know about the rarity of the ice cream truck, recently saw a 57 Chevy 6700 that was a "Civil Defence" Truck on Ebay, thought that was pretty cool.

I've never seen one in person. I don't think there were very many when new so I imagine they're pretty rare.

I remember seeing some posts here on Stovebolt about members having ice cream trucks and bookmobiles. Not very common!

Ryan, those were very common in densely populated areas (Long Island, NYC, L A. etc,) but they were phased out in most places by the 80's. Hard usage, all idling and moving a block at a time, I'm sure they were mostly scrapped and replaced by the box vans mentioned above. They would be VERY rare now.

If you're talking about a "Good Humor" Ice Cream truck, they're worth big bucks. You can see them on ebay every-now-and-then. I just looked and didn't see any current or recently completed. But, if I remember right, they were bringing 20k restored. Good Humor had their own design on the bodies.

Here is Tom and Kathy Truhlar's Big Bar Ice Cream Truck feature story. This was a fun story to do!

I used to buy Good Humor Ice Cream off those trucks in the 50s. They were white and didn't have those idiotic flap-out stop signs on them. A Popsicle was 5¢ and just about everything else was 10¢.

My mom would get a Popsicle and break it in half for me and my sister.
