I pull a 18' car hauler with a Warn 8274 double lined. I pull a lot of cars that don't have any wheels and some have the axles buried. Two things I can recommend are a good hot battery and a good bumper jack. The life of the winch is the battery and the double line helps that out and if you can get the axle out of the dirt(bumper jack) it will help the life of the battery as well. I mounted the winch as high as possible on my trailer to give the "lift" factor when pulling. Hope this helps. Btw, I've never went to get a vehicle and left without it!!

As mkmiller stated, a good hot battery (or two for lots of amps) and a good snatch block for a double line will help you out. Check out www.awdirect.com .They have good products and they will stand behind them. Stay away from the cheap China junk.

There are pics of the installation of my Superwinch 4000s on the following link. It is not a recover type winch but if it rolls it will pull it up with little effort. http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=17487588&uid=2902753 | | | | Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 586 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 586 | Houston54, nice set up. That trailer is low for easy loading and transporting. The deck of my flatbed is 4.5 feet high and can be a problem at times.

Heaviest thing it's pulled up on the trailer is a dead '50 Mack pumper truck. She creaked and groaned, but she got it up on the trailer (I used the snatch block!). Moving equipment for my Mennonite neighbors has more than paid for both the winch AND the trailer. John
