I've been conjuring up a bracket to mount a dual mc using the stock pedal. The brackets for sale from various folks will not work due to clearance issues with the transmission linkage on the hydramatic, and I think also the three on tree speed.
Not very speedy, inventing the wheel, but I think what I ended up with may work well. Bolter Bill Miles sent me photos of his setup with a '53 hydramatic gmc, but I think the '54 frame & stock mc bracket may be different so I built my own. I think the vendor brackets may only be good for 4-speeds with floor shifters.
I started by;measuring the stock mc, and using these measurements located the new mc bracket about an inch back from the existing ;mc frame bracket. The stock mc has a special tapped flatbar (grade 8) which uses two 7/16" bolts to attach the mc. I drilled a piece of flatbar using the same centers which welds to a new angle bracket which bolts to the frame and extends inward with a surface large enough to mount the new mc. In this setup, the old clevis is used with the stock pedal and a longer rod is fabricated. There was a 7/16" hole in the bottom flange of the frame about eight inches farther back. I used a piece of two inch flat stock mitered to fit the required angle with a hole to bolt through the frame. This was then welded to the bottom of the new angle bracket. It's a very tight fit with a hydramatic, but everything looks okay so far. The bracket is now welded and ready to install with the correct grade 8 bolts and the new mc, a big hulk compared to the old one.
I'll try to post some pictures if anyone is interested. I have the vendor bracket, stock mc, and new fabbed bracket with new mc all together on my tailgate will try to shoot that so you can see how the changes were figured out.

To work with the stock peday, the pushrod is offset inward using a bolt and bushing with a heim joint. One the right is the bracket I built, which moves the new mc aft providing clearance for the hyrdramatic shift linkage. The longer push rod is also shown with the stock clevis attached. The bracket uses three 7/16" bolts and two 3/8" bolts to attach to the frame and stock mc bracket.
The new mc is a Corvette style 1 & 1/8" bore dual. Same bore as the original mc. Lines can be ran from either side.

The last photo shows the completed mc bracket ready for paint and install. The mc will be fastened to the bracket with grade 8 bolts, washers, and locknuts. An access door will be added above it in the cab floor.
If you use one of the vendor brackets, I recommend using 7/16 grade 8 bolts instead of the typical 3/8 that come with the kit. Verify the integrity of all the fasteners. You don't want anything coming loose running those tall gears!
I've probably got around $20.00 in bolts and 1/4" plate/angle in this, and all my time which is not worth much.
