My 49 burb has the adjuster handle sticking out of the left side under the drivers seat. It engages into and out of 5 square punched holes in the seat track. These square holes are also in the other track towards the passenger side but there is nothing that fits in the holes. I'm thinking I am missing some adjuster parts. Is there a rod and catch assembly that connects the two tracks together? Shop manual shows only the pickup seat so no help there. Anybody have a picture or a drawing that might show the adjuster assembly for the sub seat? The pickup seat and the sub seat are two entirely different animals so pics or drawings of the pickup seat don't help. Thanks in advance for the help. GEE Weeds, I just took a look under my 51 sub seat and it's the same, but that to me only means I will most likly need to put one more thing on the to do list. Thanks weeds I needed that. oh yea also when you did your floor did you butt the ends up or over lap the new floor to the old for the welding???? Jack

Jacksub51, I did a 1 inch overlap on on the rear wood floor at the joint and there was no welding involved. Weeds

I just went and checked the front seat adj. on my 52 suburban,,and its the same deal, it looks like it SHOULD adjust,but its stuck in place. Theres no cable or rod going across to the pass side,and when i move the adj. lever,nothing happens.
What gives? Wheres the suburban experts? TC Lederman?? HELP!!

These photos of the Suburban driver's seat control are a a little unclear and a little misleading.

I cannot easily get into my Suburban because it hiberating in a tight space in my garage.

The placement of the large spring on the passenger side is mis-leading because I have not placed the spring in its proper notch at the rear side of the sliding bar. I did this because I decided that I would never move the seat once it was in its rear-most position (giving more belly-to-steering-wheel space than can be obtained in a pickup cab).

I have used white grease under the little skid-plates on the top side of the sliding rails of the seat frame (these photos are very unclear and the color-rendition of the white grease makes it look brown/rusted).

There is no rod/wire that goes from side to side of the seat frame, as there is a full-width pickup cab seat.

I just went and check my 52 GMC. It appears to be like everyone elses. Lever on the left side and no connection to the right. It doesn't look like there is a place for a connecting rod. I think my tracks will move though if I really tried. I had all that out some time back and I think it was mobile then. I am to big to move the seat froward any so it stays back. Even if I was still at "high school" weight I don't think I would ever need it forward! Also mine does not have the spring as Tim's pictures show. Probably got lost over the years.

I am going to make an assumption here and think out loud (or in type) and ask the question to your question “could this right hand slider be punched for right hand drive burbs and the holes are just not used on all are lefty drive burbs. I’ll see if I have and aussie fellas that could send me some pics.

I have seen many front burb seats (three of my own) and none that I have seen have any type of rod going across to the right side or any type of lock or latch on the right side adjuster.

I can not find the second question or the first question (or, even a question mark) but from the evidence at hand, the right-hand slider matches the left-hand slider, and thus does not give weight to the idea that maybe that slider was set up for right hand (Aussie) drive. The "square punched holes" are on the same side of both sliders; and, I do not think that the holes on the right side's slider would be accessible to the lever on a right-hand Aussie suburban?

On TF suburbans, since the seat is shorter than trucks, there is no rod connection. There is a rod/extra spring on the truck seat. Just for info, I know you are talking AD.
