on a 52 3/4 ton, the manual shows some special tool to reach in and adjust the brakes. where do i find this tool? can i "modify" a screw driver?

I bought the brake adjusting tool many years ago, don't know if tool mfr's. still make it. You can modify a screwdriver but it has to be wide (about 1/2") then needs to be bent to a 45 degree angle about 2" from the end. Not rocket science, but works good.

Any FLAPS carries them. All of the chains as well (AutoZone, O'Reilly's, etc.) Less than $5

Also called a brake spoon. Here's one as an example.

Hey b, I lived in Los Altos, near the intersection of Miramonte and Fremont back in the 70s. I bet things have changed just a bit since then grin
