For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 26 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 26 | This is my 1965 C20 wheel as it currently sits. Wheel Here ids a pic of one of the hubcaps I bought online that were supposedly for the truck. hubcaps Unfortunately, the caps don't fit. DO I have incorrect wheels or incorrect hubcaps? Is the dogdish style cap in the first picture the correct style that I ought to be looking for? Can you ID those hubcaps if they're not for a 65 C20? | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | I'm inclined to say both. The rims look to be 15" Widowmaker split rims, not sure about the caps, not stock to a '65 for sure, maybe late '40s? The caps shown in the second pic are for a '78-'87 Chevy 1/2 ton.

My bad on that. The 4x4 1/2 tons have 6 lug wheels instead of 5 lug that's used on the 2wds.

GM has used the same 8x 6 1/2 bolt pattern on 3/4 and 1 tons (exept for some light duty 3/4 tons and extra heavy duty 1 tons) since '47. However, after '88 (91 on some models), 4x4 models use a different backspace, and are not compatible with the earlier trucks. 2wd changed to the same backspace as the 4x4 after '99 on 1/2 tons, 2000 on 3/4 and 1 ton.

Most tire shops won't work on the rims any more. I had to have a farm implement dealer do mine. I took mine off last year. they just made me nervious. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 707 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 707 | Dan gallagher is right on the early hubcaps. I think that a cap very similar was used before this but instead of the off yellow trim and bowtie they used blue on the trim and bowtie. Don | | |
