When you say easy, you mean you don't run into steering, crossmember, etc?

Can you point me to where I might be able to see some photos?

Thank-you, Scott!

It sounds like Street and Performance might have motor mounts. I will contact them.

All thats left to finish is the carb mounting flanges - need someone that has a holley 2bbl to get the calipers out and do a sketch. Surely someone has one of these carb's sitting on the bench/shelf....

For folks that are not familiar with current mechanical design S/W the above picture is a screen capture out of the 3D design software that I use and is dead nuts accurate. In fact I could send this design file out to a foundry and get an exact metal part back. Its not a photoshop effort.

The balance tube could be relocated under the manifold, but it would need to be a separate part that bolts onto the underside of the plenum's to keep the patterns to a single plane.

If anyone has comments on the design I welcome them.

I still think this engine is appropriate for an AD or earlier, as V8s do not fit nicely with stock suspension, and here we have a viable late-model enigne that makes good power and excellent fuel economy. I'd consider one for my TF if the 235 didn't run so good. Fuel injection is no more complicated than a carb, once you understand all of its circuits. I don't like the look of it, and would do my best to hide sensors and wiring, but the driveablity factor would far outweigh the downside of the looks of the thing.

JUST A NOTE THIS PICTURE IS NOT HOSTED ON STOVEBOLT.

A follow rodder sent me the holley 2bbl flange sketch tonight so I finished the design.

Only time will tell if this gets turned into a part.. the bottom of the pail "I'd use it if it ws carb'ed" no longer holds water...

Got parts sitting on the shelf for the past 20 years - time to bust them out at a swap meet .... For the cost of a full rebuild on the older motors you can easily get a 4200 swapped in and running. The '02 and '03 motors with 50,000 mile are going for under $500.

Scott: Street and Performance DID have the mounts for an LS series engine into an AD truck!

Apparently, you use the Chassis Engineering small block mounts, plus LS engine adaptors. They also offered me a crossmember for the 700R4 tranny.

About $300 total, no design work required, and the whole setup BOLTS - not welds - right in! To top it all off, "Mark", the technical guy who equipped me with all this, HAS an LS engien in his own personal 1958 Chevy pickup.

Street and Performance lived up to its reputation!

Unfortunately the demand for this intake is not coming forward, so unless the 3 people who spoke up want to share the full cost of getting the pattern made - this is likely a dead end.

Very interesting thread, and very interesting concept of a 4.2 installed. In addition to the intake, which it looks like is currently planned as 2 2bls, what else is required to fit one of these engines in? What trans would be correct?

Just a few of my concerns without any real information to say it really would be a concern would include: Clearance to straight axle, Clearance to steering box, Overall length, Engine mounts, Trans mounts.

I have a agree this would look nice in my 57 and allow me to take the cobbled in 350/350 out and improve performance and appeatance! Thanks!!!
