Am trying to return the '55.1 4400 Dump to usable condition, which means a complete brake system overhaul.
Of course, my front wheel cylinders are pitted, too much so for me to be comfortable in rebuilding them.
Here's my question: 1954-55 being a split year, seems to have to different size wheel cyls on the front axle: 1" on early production; 7/8" on the later production. My truck has the 7/8 cyls, which seem to be no longer available, aftermarket; however, Raybestos still carries the 1" bore cylinders for $36.00 each.
How would the additional 1/8" in bore affect the braking of the vehicle? Enough to worry about it?
The front brakes are 14" x 2 1/2" and the rears are 15" x 4", and it has a Hydro-Vac.
Any ideas?

You can also have the cylinders sleeved, your parts store should be able to price that for you. If it were me I'd buy the 1" cylinders.

Will let everyone know how this saga turns out; Still have to pull the rear wheels and see what "hidden delights" await there!
