Hello Bolters,

I am wondering if the way i'm going about painting my 65 is the proper way?
step1 removed all panels.
step2 stripped down to bare metal.
step3 cleaned and sanded all sides of the panels.
step4 cleaned with metal prep.
step5 Primed with self etching primer.
step6 lined up all panels on the truck.
step7 repaired all dents and dings.
step8 primed all areas that were worked.
step9 removed all panels and paint with finish color. (2 coats)
step10 instaled all panels and shoot one last coat of finish color.
step11 shoot 3 coats of clear.

I hope I have all the step on order. I should mention that I do not have the box on for this. I am doing that on jack stands.

You forgot the cold brew between steps.

That goes with out saying. You need to wash that sanding dust down some how.

Skip the step of etching primer. Just apply a coat of Epoxy Primer, then apply a 2 or 3 coats of 2K High Fill primer.

The etching primer is a waste of time. After sanding or sand blasting the panels, you will have a surface ready for epoxy. Apply the 2k right away. That way you won't have to sand the whole thing down again before applying the 2K later.

If you apply the epoxy or etching primer, and you wait past the recoat window, you will have to sand the epoxy primer first and then apply the 2K primer. So why sand it twice? Put the 2K on as soon as the tech sheet says you can.
