I broke the engine in under load and my manual said to drive it 500 miles, then change the oil.
So the good news is, it made it to 500 miles, runs smooth no problems at all.
Bad news (I think); when I was pouring out the oil from the filter I noticed that the oil had gold particles in it. It had enough to look like gold metallic paint mixed with my oil. I didn't know if I struck the motherlode or if something is wrong with my engine. Runs great with no problems.
Is this normal?, my neighbor said it could be the break-in lube, but I don't think so. The particles are very very very fine and no other metal parts were in the oil. Oil was a dark amber, not black. Is the engine junk?
Any help would be appreciated.

Some of those products have metallic-looking components, like the Never-Seez I use for lubricating head bolts, main bearing bolts, etc. If it's not making any expensive noises and the oil pressure is good, don't sweat it!

Everything is AOK, Temp, Oil pressure, vacuum, etc. No grinding, knocking, scraping etc. The only noise is that of a smooth running L-6.  I'll stop sweating it, and start to enjoy it.
