I just received a new set of front springs from Benz Spring in Portland, Ore.. The leaf clips on these are somewhat unique. They are wrap with a one inch wide rubber channel and then banded with what looks like shipping banding! There are no riveted clips like on the original springs! Is this what you get these days? How long before that banding rusts out?

Funny you mention this. When I was looking at new springs I saw and questioned to myself the same issue. Are the springs green painted? I was surprised to see such a banning method used on this application. Decided to restore my old springs.

I'll have to use these (Triangle Spring #22-184) shipped from Benz Spring in Portland, Ore.. But I did not get what I wanted-an oem new spring. Perhaps I could salvage some clips from old worn cores, to maintain original look. But there is no way to rivet the clips to the leaf like the original.
Just like eBay, you have to ask the questions first, even with seemingly top quality Spring makers and vendors.
What is involved in the re-arch process? Do they bend 'em cold, then reheat and quench in oil to re-temper? Let me know and how much that costs, in addition to new mainleafs which have worn, egged eyes.
