I have one of the borg warner 3 spd overdrives to go in my 54 , I know back in the day they made a 3 spd floor shifter that the linkage would get around the soloniod and that there was a special name for them that I cannot remember . I have looking for one but it makes it ten times as hard without the name . Can anybody help ?

You can make your own transmission attachment bracket that ends up with the shifter in the middle of the floor. Here's the bracket I made. Notice the up-over-up I made out of 3/8" steel. Here's the bent shifter arms that clear the solenoid. Notice that I not only shortened the shifter dogs on the shifter plate but welded them on. By shortening the radius I shortened the overall shifting distance between the gears. It still has the traditional 3 speed 'H' pattern.
Finally this is where the shifter ends up... in the middle of the floor.
