The earlier post I started got pretty " Langdon Carter-Weber" intensive so I'll try soliciting info from you guys that run carter single bbls. I think the Langons setup is probably more efficient but Butt ugly!! Also I'm running the original 6 cyl because I want to be a little different. The Langon's are good for Some people but if everybody goes to them, I can see the modification becoming like the 350 Chevy crate motors in virtually every hot Rod that is built today. Viva the difference and lets keep the old ways alive along with the new technology. So what model carter carbs are you guys running? The Carter 4480-S was a stock replacement for the Rochester on '63-'67 Chevy trucks I understand. Any tips for tuning, linkage, air filters etc?

I talk to myself all the time so I may as well answer my own posts......seems like the W1 model 574S ('41-''48 Chevy)is the prefered model although I wonder how the YF 4480s would work ('63-'67 Chevy truck). I'll probably be back to answer this question too...I gotta get a life....

Ok. like you I wanted to be different so right now ive got a 1904 holley like from a 223 ford 6cyl on my 261 right now. it takes a little linkage work and
open the mounting holes just a little but it seems to be a really nice set up. Im only running one so it may be a little small. but the cool thing is the jets are the same as the big 4bbl holley and so are the power valves. also these things are farely cheap. i got mine for a 58 ford 223. it was about
$90. so im sure someone will correct me but thats my story and im stickin to it. thanks Chris

I like the idea of using three of those 1904 Holleys. Of course I may like it less if I were to actually try it, but in theory it sounds cool, and would be somewhat unique!

4d9r - Correct me if I'm wrong but don't the W1s have a different bolt spacing than the YF, I also have seen where the W1s are the best for a dual application but what would you use for an adaptor the match the 235 bolt spacing, or do you just oblong the mounting holes on the carbs.

George- I don't know the answer to that question. I'm hoping that someone with experience will point me in the right direction. This is all new to me with a 6 cylinder....

I just found out that the Carter W-1 (574s) have 2 11/16 bolt centers which is what the 216 intakes were set up for. My Edmunds is from a 216 and I'll machine it to accept the intake rings of the 235 to line it up with the head so the W-1 will work if I can find a pair. Anybody got a set?
