Does anyone know if a clutch for the 1962 235 will work in my truck. I will be using the bellhousing from the 1949 and the 4 speed from the 49.Most books show a 10 3/4 clutch for the 4 speed 49.

If there is a 216 in your truck now, just take the parts from it. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 3,458 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 3,458 | My '50 4 speed had the smaller clutch, so I used the '62 clutch when I installed my 261. It has an 11" clutch. If you have the 10-3/4" clutch, use it so you can use your starter. If you have the small clutch, you can do like I did and mix and match parts to fit your 62 clutch into the 216 bellhousing. I ended up using a clutch fork out of a '57 bellhousing and a short throwout bearing. I milled the flywheel to accept a 216 ring gear, although you could just use a 12 volt starter instead. It all fit fine, although it was a bit of a pain to get it all stuffed in there. The 10-3/4" clutch should be a piece of cake.
