I recently purchased a 1968 C10 with a 307 and 3 on the tree. The truck has electric overdrive that is currently not working. I have been searching for manuals or web pages, anything to help me get started or find parts to fix it. The previous owner told me that it was a bad solenoid at the rear of the tranny. So far I've had no luck finding any parts or even a diagram of this set up. Please steer me in the right direction!

AFAIK, There are no replacement parts available, other than what you can scrounge in a salvage yard. Wiring diagram and other info can be found at....

Hope this helps!

The shop manual has trouble shooting info and a wiring diagram. You can dissassemble the solenoid and clean up the contacts. Many times the oil seal leaks and gets oil in the solenoid and causes it to short out. It can be cleaned up with solvent. The trans seal is available. Solenoids and original parts are hard to come by but many of us have found other components to replace the factory relays and kick down switches. There is a lot of info in this forum on overdrives.

To add the what Fred said, don't be afraid to look into other brands for parts, the same overdrive unit was used by AMC, ford, GM, and several others. The electrical and many internal components are the same, the adapter housing and input shaft being the main differences in application.
