My 48 only had the two bolts through the plate beneath the harmonic balancer on the front of the engine, and the transmission bolts on the rear. Of course, you have the wiring, clutch linkage, exhaust, etc. If I missed anything, someone else will chime in.

I have located the two forward bolts but am having trouble finding the transmission to engine bolts. Oh well I'll find em eventually. I looked up my casting number on inliners.com and it wasn't there any one have any info? Casting number is 3835517 (2X)Thanks alot, Jess

There is also a rear mount on the tranny. There are also 6 bellhousing to engine bolts, and four of them are on the inside. The clutch and flywheel have to come out to separate the two. It is easiest to pull the engine and bellhousing together.

What kind of supercharger on that Miata?
I had a '94 up until last year when I got sideswiped by a felon in an unlicensed van. I sold it and I miss that car, it was a great car. It had 160k miles on it and was still strong. I did all my own work on it. It was a pleasure to work on.

The problem is I DONT want to take out the transmission because it works fine. I thought all in all it would be easier to take out just the engine. Thanks for your help. Jess

I am using a 1.2 Whipple, FM's new kit with a larger intercooler and a totally built engine. Its going in an 01 with the VVT deactivated. To give you an idea how built, I have $3600.00 in the head alone. Its a money sucking sponge!
I ran into you on the Miata forum when I asked about driveshaft angles.

I thought I could lift it out myself with no cherry picker....Bad Idea. Im a pretty big boy but it didn't seem to matter much. Its disattached still in the motor bay (or watever you call it). I unbolted it then jacked the front end up with a 2x4 and pulled and jerked back and forth. Eventually it came free.  (By the way, did I mention im not the smartest kid?)Anyways I wouldn't of been able to do it with out you guys. So thanks for all the help and keep it coming  Thanks again, Jess
