Just bought a 51 GMC 1 ton flatbed. Road ready except needs an engine. I would prefer a used running motor. I'd also considering a rebuild if someone could recommend a good rebuilder, experienced with old iron.

I'm in western Colorado

Thanks

Oops, I meant 228 or 270. Might consider a 248 but are they harder to find parts for?

Your looking for a Jimmy 6?...........
First, put an ad in the Swap meet here at TSBP.
You are looking for a 248; that is what your truck came with stock. A 228 will work, but if you're lucky you might find a 302!
Happy Hunting! smile

Any '39-'62 GMC engine will bolt up (228,236,248,256,270 and 302)

Keep an eye on the Swap Meet in the parts section. You also could put an ad in the engines wanted section.

I have a 228 that came out of my 50 GMC 1/2T. It runs but I used the front motor mount, oil pan and valve cover for my 270. I replaced the oil pan with the beat up 270 one. It wasn't smoking and started right up. I live in Albuquerque. Your welcome to it....come and get it, I really don't want to try shipping.
