I just aquired a 1966 GMC School Bus in immaculate condition in and out.Any idea of what this bus is worth ? Also wondering what size motor is in there. 350 small block or big block ? Thanx alot guys!

Does it have a V6 in it? A 351 V6 is my guess
No idea on the value, probably much less than a similar PU for most people, and perhaps more for some, but finding those people may be difficult.

Most old school buses are worth whatever they'll bring for scrap steel. They're good for scavenging parts for other projects, though.

Could make an interesting RV conversion if it is big enough.

I saw one sell for $2500 in a town near here, but like said before it just depends on who wants it and what for.

Have any photos of the ol beast? My roomies mom is a bus driver and we have been tlakin about findin her an old bolt bus to drive. So for someone like her, it'd be a sweet find and worth more, but to the average joe, not so much. kind of like that whole "beuty is in the eye of the beholder" thing.

They used to bring a few bucks from guys wanting hunting buggy conversions but with so many used Motor Homes on the market now it has about killed that small market. It will also depend on the size of the bus. Really big ones like a 66 passenger don't bring as much as a 36-42 passenger size in my experience except for scrap. So whatever you paid for it is exactly what it is worth to you.

I,m working on the photos when I leave here,The crazy thing is,...if ya can find any rust anywhere I,d give anyone $2,000,It starts up first shot everytime,and the inside is as mint and bare as it gets.I,ll let ya know soon about any decisions.

That's right. That reminds me of Bristol Motor Speedway. They have old school buses that shuttle people back and forth from the parking lots to the track. My knees were wedged up against the seat in front of me.

Out here they still work for do-it-yourself motor homes,hunting rigs,party vans,etc. If the drivetrain is bad,they also make excellent storage units and workshops. (water tight roof,interior lighting and relatively well insulated)I know a guy who fixed up the front third of one like a little apartment and made the rest into a well equipped shop to work on his off-road bikes at the races.(He often makes a few bucks extra fabricating parts for other riders.)
I've seen 'em set up with swing apart rear walls and ramps to carry small race cars too.
One of the local truck shops here used to have a '58 Chevy bus with a Pontiac 389,4 speed and 2 speed axle,set up for road service. The mechanics could do an in-frame on an OTR truck right there on the roadside.
Old busses are also very good as moving vans.

I've seen them where the back section has been taken loose and moved forward, creating a small cab area, with a flatbed behind it. One guy used his as a hay hauler; another used his to haul his tractor to tractor pulls.

If it were left as a school bus, and restored that way, perhaps some bus line would be interested in it as a parade unit.

Well,...i do know for sure that there will be a keg holder on er with a time lock for my ignition keys....lol. I,m hoping to tour with it doing music with my band as a tour bus. Such great ideas for them I have read from the replies. Hmmm, I really like the NASCAR idea. Maybe take er down to Daytona 500.
