I noticed on one of the other threads that you mentioned straight pipes. Is that what you have on your truck, and if so, how loud are they? Theyv'e got to sound great. I'm getting ready to put on fentons and I'm trying to figure out which way to go. I have glass packs on it now, but I want a different sound. Thanks Scott.

I ran my '41 around town a few times with only the exhaust pipe before I had a muffler put on. It was louder than I would want to drive it regularly but still I didn't think it was as loud as some of these kids with late model trucks and loud mufflers. Probably not as loud as these little hopped up rice burners when they accelerate either. I passed a couple of cop cars and they didn't stop. I thought it sounded good and so did my wife.

you could always put on the good ol' Flowmasters 40 series....they make any truck sound like it has tons of power. unlike glasspacks, theyre kinda loud at idle and only get louder.

But theyre a lovely sound. If i had my pickup here right now id try to get a sound clip of it so you could se how it is.

I personally love the sound of flowmasters over glasspacks, but thats just my opinion.

glasspacks are generally alot cheaper, considering flowmasters are about $60 a muffler

I have a 54 with 235. I installed a 1954 Corvette split castiron manifold which has the heat riser just like original single manifold. Fentons would work also. I ran twin 2 inch pipe together (about four inches apart) back to the approximate location of the original muffler location. Installed a Bassani stainless steel dual inlet/ dual outlet muffler which has twin open mixing chambers to re blend/ equalize both of the 3 cylinders. I ran 2 inch tail pipes from the Bassani and spread them out to both frame rails out to the rear. The sound is very similar to late model Camero deep tone. I have had flowmasters installed on another 235 and this is a better sound in my opinion.

What motor are you running? I'm considering going with the Flowmaster 40's with split manifold on my 235 and am curious how close to a V8 sound I'll be able to get. If running a inline 6 How much like the clips on flowmasters site do you sound? I really wanna get a good reaction out of people when they ask what I'm running and I tell them an I6.

KCMongo, im running a EFI 302 V8 in my 89 f-150, and for the most part, it sounds alot like the camaro sound clip on the flowmaster site.

Wow, i like how the diesels sound with flowmasters. haha. I might have to put a head gasket in the 5.7L diesel in my 83 caprice and drive that around with the loud exhaust.

Im not sure how a 235 would sound with 40 series, but it cant be bad.

just gotta get the dual exhaust
