Hello everyone! It's me again with another scatter brained plan and even more questions. OK Lets start with what I think I know already. Swapping a AD truck to a S-10 frame is possible with some mild modifications. To start, you need a standard cab long wheel base s-10 frame, A 4 wheel drive rear end, some good wheel spacers for the front, and some basic cab and bed mount modifications. I hope that is right and if it is not, please point out what I have missed. OK onward... My truck is a 3600 so That means long bed and it will have to be cut to the 3100 bed size. This is where I get lost

QUESTION 1. I need to know where these cuts in the bed need to be made.
QUESTION 2. I am wondering if it is possible to use a short bed standard cab S-10 and cut the AD bed a bit more? Possibly weld an extention to the rear of the SWB frame? Short wheel base standard cab S-10's are plentiful, easy to find and extreemly cheap (Cheap being the key word here!)

I have been to www.ad-engineering.com and checked out their kit and info which is where I got the idea for this conversion. I was hoping that some of you had your own ideas and practical expierence dealing with this and would be willing to share this knowledge with me.

I am truly sure of only one thing in this project...I'm having fun!

Thanks in advance!!

Anything is possible with a torch and a welder. However the standard cab sb S-10 frame under an AD would put the rear wheels really far forward (about 8"). You would be better off extending the S-10 frame if that is your starting point. The 3 wheel base lengths of an S-10 are 108.3, 117.9, and 122.9 or 2750, 2995mm, and 3120mm respectively

Here are the sites & info I have on the S10 frame swap...Joe

One
Two - So-Whats/Clarks tech tip on HAMB
Three - another HAMB tech tip
Plus several folks here including myself have made up their own homemade kits & have been successfull w/it.
There are several other methods to putting a different system under a AD truck. Such as using a Mid-size GM car suspension, Dodge Dakota, Ford Ranger & even using 70-87 Chevy/GMC front suspension. Pluse several companies make weld in & bolt in front suspensions. It all depends on you skill & how much money you want to spend....Joe
