The PO has a home built 3 Bar set up in it and it rides, well like a darn truck, really hard and stiff. I'm thinking about either a 4 Bar parallel or ladder bar both with coil overs. Which one do you think would be better or easier to install and adjust.

You'll want a lower spring rate to soften the ride. As far as installation, the ladder bar would be the easiest. But I agree with BC52, go with the 4 bar, or better yet, a triangulated 4 bar, for better control and tuning.
