I finally purchased me a 470 series, full air brake equipted COE, like I've been wanting. It's a 1952 GMC F473-30, 22000lb. gvw. Truck. It has a 302ci. inline 6 cyl., 5 spd. direct drive Trans., & a Eaton electric 2 spd. rear axle. Even has Factory Accessory shocks. Only problem is, I have to get it delivered from the "Great North West". See it here, http://rides.webshots.com/album/560936084xHdqzJ

Nice truck,
It's the one you have been looking at for a while now right?

If it's any help we may be able to work out a deal where you can borrow my tow bar. I would not want to tow that truck back with a tow bar unless the lead truck weighed 10,000 -14,000 lb or so, any less and I feel that it could be "interesting". The lead truck must have substantial brakes, and enough weight to win the fight when the trailing truck wants to play games.

I'm sure you'll keep us updated on the progress,
Grigg

looks good the brakes appear to have been put into shape, cabs good shape, is the frame the right length or will you need to shorten it to fit one of your wrecker bodies?

This is ideed, one of the West Coast Trucks, i've been looking at for some time. I had the chance to purchase this one, almost 3 years ago, & didn't. Had another shot, at it, & took it. I wouldn't have time, to pick it up myself, so i'll just have to wait, on the right opportunity, to get it transported by someone else. I'm contemplating, installing the Holmes Heavy Duty W45, Wrecker unit, I have on this one. It has the 161"in. wheelbase, so i'll need the long wheelbase service body. The Holmes W35 I have, with medium wheelbase service body, is almost ready for installation, on my 450 series COE.

Well Spanky my first thought was where did you find something like that on the west coast that I didn't know about. Then looking at the pictures I recognized the truck, the trailer, and the yard it is sitting in.

My truck and trailer sat in that yard for a few hours the weekend I collected my COE from about 40 miles south of there. I don't have anything big enough to haul that, but if you need an extra pair of hands on the west coast that yard is only three or four hours from where I live and I do know the way.

Spanky,

That is one nice looking COE! It's nice when you get a second chance at one of the fun trucks that gets away.

That is a cool truck. Was it in Washington? It couldn't have lived it's live on the west coast.... it's too solid looking.

The Truck was originally owned by the State of Washington. Was used strictly, on a Farm after that. I was told it was from the dry climate of Washington State.
