They are on 16.5 mystery rims and are the same size as the old tires. But now when I make a left turn there is an awful rubbing/ grinding noise. I am guessing there were spacers on the wheels lugs to allow the old tires to clear the steering gear. (Bonehead at the tire shop probably threw them out. This is the same guy who disconnected the Emergency brake by mistake and then suggested I just leave it in gear...)
So what do I use for spacers? Washers?
Any advice appreciated.

It might just be the tire has a different profile. Are these radials and the old ones weren't?

#33196 06/14/2003 10:09 AM | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 1,897 Member | | Member Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 1,897 | WARNING!!!!! the 16.5 rims are too wide to work on the front. The lip of the rim rubs on the tie-rod end and will damage the tie-rod end.
Spacers can be used but I do not suggest it if you are hauling any weight. your truck should weigh around 2 & 1/2 tons by itself.
There is enough good in the worst of us and enough bad in the best of us that it does not behoove any of us to criticize the rest of us.

The space idea would work, but you ar putting different loads onto the lug bolts. I finally found rims with a deeper offset and have no more problems.
Yesterday was the test. I hauled two loads each
1790 kg- apox 3400 lb of gravel and the truck run and drove beautifull. | | |
